Since this is most likely the first test a skater will take judging is supposed to be very lenient.

From USFS TR 25.01 - The purpose of this test is to encourage beginning skaters to learn the fundamentals of ice skating. No great deal of technical ability, carriage of flow is expected. The candidate must show knowledge of the steps, fairly good edges, and some evidence of good form.

The average duration of this test is about 10 min. Passing average is 2.5 or total of 12.5.
