Introduction
The loop jump is considered an edge jump because there is no kick off the toe pick. Although some define a loop jump as taking off from a back outside edge the skater is actually facing forward when the skate leaves the ice. The skater lands on the same back outside edge.
Entrance
For beginners a loop jump is sometimes entered from from an inside three turn. This helps the beginning skater get momentum to rotate.
For advanced skaters a loop us usually entered directly from backward crossovers.
Take Off
A loop is an edge jump that takes off from an outside edge.
Landing
Stretched free leg, level shoulders and straight back
Common Errors
- Over rotation on take off.
- Poor body alignment on take off
