Stroking is a method of propelling yourself across the ice. The skater pushes off with one foot using the edge of the skate. DO NOT use the toe pick to push off when stroking.
Advanced skaters almost always begin their practice sessions with a few laps of stroking around the rink.
- Key Points:
- Push off from the inside edge of the skate.
- Extend the free leg behind and to the side.
- Bend the knees slightly for better balance and power.
